SALIVARY ENDOSCOPY

SALIVARY ENDOSCOPY

This procedure is being pioneered in Colombia by Dr. Alvaro Sanabria, who trained in Europe with the creator of this technique.

Salivary gland endoscopy (sialoendoscopy or sialendoscopy) is a new minimally invasive procedure that allows for the diagnosis and treatment of salivary gland disorders secondary to alterations in their ducts.

It is used as a diagnostic method to rule out inflammatory processes in the glands (diagnostic sialoendoscopy) and to treat pathological areas (stenosis, removal of foreign bodies or stones), using a very small endoscope, which facilitates the detection of pathologies that until now could go unnoticed.

From a therapeutic point of view, it is an alternative to conventional surgery, with minimally invasive procedures, in most cases on an outpatient basis, with fewer risks and complications for the patient, as well as a lower recurrence rate.
