What is sialoendoscopy?
Sialoendoscopy is currently the procedure of choice for diagnosing and treating diseases of the salivary glands, such as obstructions, inflammation, and stones. Its minimally invasive nature makes it the first choice over open surgery, which unnecessarily compromises the glands.
At CEXCA, we are pioneers and the only ones in Colombia to perform this procedure, thanks to Dr. Álvaro Sanabria's direct training in Europe alongside the creator of the technique.
When is it recommended?
Sialoendoscopy is indicated as first-line management in patients with:
- Symptoms of recurrent inflammation in the salivary glands.
- Presence of stones in the parotid or submandibular glands.
- Narrow salivary ducts or ducts containing foreign bodies.
In most cases, it is treated on an outpatient basis, without the need to remove the gland.
Benefits compared to conventional surgery
- Preserve the gland: avoid unnecessary removal.
- Less pain and complications: minimally invasive technique.
- Quick recovery: most patients resume their normal lives within a short period of time.
- Lower recurrence: precise management reduces the risk of the problem reappearing.
Sialoendoscopy is the ideal procedure for salivary gland disorders because it preserves natural function, reduces risks, and offers a safer outcome for the patient.
At CEXCA, we are the only center in Colombia that offers this procedure with a highly specialized focus on the head and neck.
